All System Board members are invited to register for and attend an online Special System Board Meeting to consider and vote upon the 2021 SCKLS Proposed Budget. The 2021 Proposed Budget is available at: https://www.sckls.info/home/showdocument?id=540
Among the goals for the 2021 Proposed Budget are to maintain the current mill levy rate of 1.229, not increase property taxes and address any projected decreases in funding. The estimated mill levy rate for 2021 will be 1.229 which is the current rate and was also the rate in 2019.
The estimated property tax required to fund the proposed 2021 budget will decrease $1,109. For 2020, the amount of property tax required to fund the budget is $3,161,058 while in 2021 the estimated amount of property tax required will be $3,159,949.
A factor which determines future funding is the estimated assessed valuation for the SCKLS taxing district. For 2021, that decrease will be nearly $1.5 million, and tax revenue delinquencies for 2021 are projected to be lower than in previous years by 3-5%. However, no major reductions in funding to SCKLS grants and services for 2021 are currently proposed.
You are a System Board member if your library, school district, college or institution designates you as its representative or if you are a Governor’s or County Appointee.
